So I live in Chicago & I work in the Loop & I’ve been wading through fauxgressives all week. And the building I work in is on the list of potential firebomb targets. And a lot of the protestors claiming to be here to fight for everyone’s rights have been engaging in random bouts of street…

husband staying home from office tomorrow bc of this shit too. NATO in Chicago=fail.

This is the Jewish state, 2012. Non-Jews are unwanted. Graffiti: “expel blacks”

It’s not even just non-Jews though. Most black people in Israel are Jewish immigrants from Ethiopia and they face horrific discrimination from white Jews.

note to self: not Israel

Israel’s a fucking mess. It’s imploding from every possible angle.

I suppose one of the benefits to being gluten-intolerant is you can’t just run down to the deli and buy cookies and brownies and other delicious baked goods whenever you feel like it.

Benefits?  Did I say benefits?

I meant tragedies…

That’s what I thought… until I started baking gluten free!! Now there are more cupcakes in my house than ever! :)

Just a comment (perhaps related, perhaps a tangent): Growing up the only (&then one of a few) Jews in a very white suburb was awful. White people still do not like Jews, are ignorant about Jews, or perpetuate stupid stereotypes. Both sides of my family changed their last names in the 1950s. My dad’s fam’s house was vandalized with swastikas (burned into front lawn). Jews were barred from many professions, neighborhoods, etc. My mother wasn’t allowed in people’s houses. I was told I killed Jesus. (among many other things) That being said, I don’t think aside from superficial similarities and occasional intersecting histories that the experience of being ethnically and culturally Jewish in the U.S. can be compared to being African American, Latino, etc. The access to “whiteness” post-WWII is huge divergence. (tho that has also been used to erase Jewish ethnic identity) Plus I really hate the Oppression Olympics. -written on my phone while getting kids to sleep so hopefully makes sense :)
